These works reflect that love-hate relationship I have with machines. They began as a series of engravings on glass intended to be used for print-making. I started them in 2003 while at the Pilchuck Glass School as Artist in Residence. I found that the engraved glass plates and the parallax that happens when one engraving plate is viewed through another much more interesting than the prints that they made individually. These drawings/engravings become three dimensional. Working with them further, they have became even more sculptural and now include small metal “machines” that are viewed through a surround of engraved glass plates.
